Yoga is an age-old science or system, which aims to integrate, or make whole, the many aspects of ourselves - physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.

This process of bringing the total 'body' in to balance and harmony is achieved through the practice of various postures ('asanas'), by learning to breathe fully and rhythmically (‘pranayama’)and by the practice of concentration, meditation (yoga nidria) and relaxation.

HATHA YOGA is a passive form of exercise in that it does not involve running, jumping or jarring exercises. While some forms of hatha yoga are extreme and narrow, others are so passive as to be more meditative; the sequence taught at 'IntoFreedom Yoga' is practiced in a relaxed manner with calm concentration. Developing a sense of wholeness, ease and purpose. The sequence taught is broad and all encompassing - incorporating attitudes of "Healthy body, healthy mind, respect for self, others and the universe".

Alison is a Hatha Yoga, Gold Diploma graduate of Gita International Yoga and an Integral Yoga Teacher. Yoga as taught in the Gita and Integral style follows a tradition, which is thousands of years old and retains the essence of the Ancient Teachings: Yet it adopts an approach which addresses our present culture and the multiple levels of stress on our body and mind which are inevitable from living in the 21st Century.

IntoFreedom Yoga is based on a sequence of 10 simple postures:

  • one for the lungs and brain
  • two for the nervous systems
  • seven for the endocrine glands

At  IntoFreedom Yoga, we also have Gentle Yoga classes. This is ideal for anyone who wants to try yoga but feels that they can't because they are overweight, have arthritis or any other medical concerns.
